Ken Hagin

"Because we didn't understand what Jesus said, and because we've been religously brainwashed instead of New Testament taught.  We watered down the promises of God, and tacked on what Jesus didn't say.  And added on something else to it.  Well, he will be alright, 'if it's His will'  But it might not be His will, people have said.  And yet you don't find that kind of talk in the New Testament."
(Ken Hagin, Christianity In Crisis, audio-tape, Christian Research Institute.)

It is unscriptural to pray, 'If it is the will of God.'  When you put an 'if' in your prayer, you are praying in doubt."

"[Man] was created on terms of equality with God, and he could stand in God's presence without any consciousness of inferiority...God made us as much like Himself as possible...He made us the same class of being that He is Himself...Man lived in the realm of God.  He lived on terms equal with God...[The] believer is called Christ...That's who we are; we're Christ"

"The believer is called Christ...That’s who we are; we’re Christ!
(Kenneth Hagin, Zoe: The God-Kind of Life pg. 35-36, 41.)

"Why did He need to be begotten or born?  Because He became like we were - separated from God.  Because He tasted spiritual death for every man. And His spirit and inner men went to hell in my place.  Can't you see that? Physical death wouldn't remove your sins.  He's tasted death for every man. He's talking about tasting spiritual death.  Jesus is the first person that was ever born again.  Why did His spirit need to be born again?  Because it was estranged from God."
(Kenneth Hagin, "How Jesus obtained His Name" Tape 44H01)

"He [Jesus] tasted spiritual death for every man. And His spirit and inner men went to hell in my place.  Can't you see that? Physical death wouldn't remove your sins.  He's tasted death for every man. He's talking about tasting spiritual death."
(Hank Hanegraaff, "Christianity in Crisis" page 164.  Ken Hagin, "How Jesus Obtained His Name,")

"God had forsaken Him because He was taking our place.  He became what we were.  He took our sin that we might become righteous.  He took our spiritual death that we might have eternal life.  He took our ostracism, our outlawed nature, that we might become sons of God."
(Ken Hagin, "Jesus Christ, Our High Priest," Article C-Faith)

"Yes, sin, sickness and disease, spiritual death, poverty, and everything else that's of the devil once ruled us.  But now, bless God, we rule them--for this is the Day of Dominion!"

"When sickness comes, speak to itSay, "Sickness.  I refuse to be sick. I refuse sickness.  I resist you in Jesus' Name. You must go."  And it will leave. You've got that right."
(Ken Hagin, "How to Resist the Devil," Article C-Faith)

"He [Jesus] tasted spiritual death for every man.  And His spirit and inner man went to hell in my place.  Can’t you see that?  Physical death wouldn’t remove your sins.  He’s tasted death for every man.  He’s talking about tasting spiritual death."
(Kenneth E. Hagin, How Jesus Obtained His Name Tape 44H01)

"Spiritual death means something more than separation from God. Spiritual death also means having Satan’s nature…Jesus tasted death—spiritual death—for every man."
(Hank Hanegraaff, "Christianity in Crisis" page 499.  Ken Hagin, "Letter to Hank Hanegraaff," January 4, 1991)

The death of Jesus Christ was not a physical death alone.  If it had been a physical death, Abel would have paid the price for mankind.  He was the first man that died because of honoring God and His Word.  If it had been a physical death only, it wouldn't have worked!  And if He hadn't died spiritually, that body never would have died.
(Ken Hagin, What Happened From the Cross to the Throne)

Regarding a non-believer who applied a law of prosperity, Hagin writes:
"God didn't bless him because he was a sinner.  He received God's blessing because he honored God.  God has a certain law of prosperity and when you get into contact with that law and those rules, it just works for you---whoever you are.  when you come into contact with God's laws, they work."
(D. R. McConnell, A Different Gospel, page 171.  Ken Hagin, "The Law of Faith," Word of Faith Nov 1974, pg 2-3.)

A man is poor, whether Christian or non-Christian, for one reason: he dishonored God.  Hagin comments:
"You know friends, most of us are not so poor because we have honored God---but because we have dishonored Him.  You might as well say Amen because it's so.  I've given you scripture to prove it."
(D. R. McConnell, A Different Gospel, page 173.  Ken Hagin, "Authority," page 22)

"When I preach on the mind, it frightens some congregations.  They immediately think of Christian Science."
(D. R. McConnell, A Different Gospel, page 15.  Ken Hagin, "Right and Wrong Thinking," 1966, page 18-19)

"During the next 14 years, Jesus appeared to Rev. Hagin eight times in visions that changed the course of his ministry."
(Ken Hagin Obituary, Rhema.org)

"The Lord said to me, 'If I give you a message for an individual, a church, or a pastor and  they don't accept it, you will not be responsible.  They will be responsible.  There will be ministers who don't accept it and will fall dead in the pulpit."
(D. R. McConnell, A Different Gospel, page 65.  Ken Hagin, "I Believe," page 114-115)

"I say this with reluctance but this actually happened in one place where I preached.  Two weeks from the day that I closed the meeting, the pastor fell dead in the pulpit.  When I left that church crying.  I told the pastor in the next church where I went to hold a meeting, 'that man fell dead in the pulpit.'  And just a very short time after that he did.  Why?  Because he didn't accept the message that God gave me to give him from the Holy Spirit."
(D. R. McConnell, A Different Gospel, page 65.  Ken Hagin, "I Believe," page 115)

"There are going to be lay-members that are going to fall dead in the church, in the last days, like Ananias and Sapphira.  They lied to God."
(D. R. McConnell, A Different Gospel, page 65.  Ken Hagin, "God Called Me to the Ministry of a Prophet," The Voice of Healing, April 1963, page 9)

E. W. Kenyon teaches that man as a species "is in God's class of being."
(D. R. McConnell, A Different Gospel, page 115.  E. W. Kenyon, "Hidden Man," page 7.  Cf., Ken Hagin, "The Human Spirit," vol 2 page 12)

"Did you ever stop to think about having faith in your own faith?  Evidently God had faith in His faith, because He spoke words of faith and they came to pass...In other words, having faith in your words is having faith in your faith.  That's what you've got to learn to do to get things from God: Have faith in your faith."
(Ken Hagin, "Having Faith in Your Faith," page 4-5)

"I believe that it is the plan of God our Father that no believer should ever be sick.  that every believer should live his full length of time and actually wear out, if Jesus tarries, and fall asleep in Jesus.  It is not---I state boldly---it is not the will of God my Father that we should suffer with cancer and other dread diseases which bring pain and anguish. No!  It is God's will that we be healed."
(D. R. McConnell, A Different Gospel, page 156.  Ken Hagin, "Healing: The Father's Provision," Word of Faith August 1977, page 9)

"He [God] wants His children to eat the best, He wants them to wear the best clothing, He wants them to drive the best cars, and He wants them to have the best of everything."
(D. R. McConnell, A Different Gospel, page 174.  Ken Hagin, "New Thresholds," page 54-55)

"If anybody, anywhere, will take these four steps or put these four principles into operation he will always receive whatever he wants."
(Hank Hanegraaff, "Christianity in Crisis" page 465.  Ken Hagin.)

"My sister got down to 79 pounds.  The Lord kept telling me that she was going to die.  I kept asking the Lord why I couldn't change the outcome.  He told me she had had five years in which she could have studied the Word and built up her faith (she was saved), but she hadn't done it.  He told me she was going to die, and she did.  This is a sad example, but it's true.
That's pretty callous isn't it?  Word Faith theology makes the healer a hero when miraculous cures are claimed, but always blames the seeker for a lack of faith when a healing does not happen.  Hagin describes an incident when he was attempting to heal an arthritic woman.  Her disease had crippled her so badly that she was unable to walk.  He became frustrated at her unwillingness to let go of her wheel chair.
I pointed my finger at her and said, "Sister, you don't have an ounce of faith, do you?"
Without thinking, she blurted out, "No, Brother Hagin, I don't! I don't believe I'll ever be healed.  I'll go to my grave from this chair."  She said it, and she did it.  And we weren't to blame."
(Dr. John MacArthur, "Charasmatic Chaos," page 345.  Ken Hagin)

"Kenyon's influence on my ministry has been minute.  Only his teachings on the name of Jesus have much to do with my theology.  I absolutely deny any metaphysical influences from Kenyon.  I teach not Christian Science but Christian sense."
(Hank Hanegraaff, "Christianity in Crisis" page 332.  Ken Hagin, "The Faith of Kenneth Hagin," Vinson Synan, "Charisma and Christian Faith," page 68.)

Hagin was talking to Jesus in a vision in 1952, Hagin tells the story of when he was having a talk with Jesus one day, and they were talking about casting out demons.  Suddenly, a 'demon monkey' jumped between them and drowned out Jesus’ words by yelling "yackety, yack, yack."  Finally, Hagin took control and told the monkey to "shut up in the name of Jesus."  Jesus, no doubt relieved, told Hagin, "If you hadn’t done something about that, I couldn’t have."  Shocked by Jesus' statement, Hagin suggested that Jesus surely must have meant "wouldn’t have."  Jesus calmly assured Hagin that what He had said was correct.  Ken Hagin asked Him for three scriptures and Jesus told him He would give him four.
(Hank Hanegraaff, "Christianity in Crisis" page 333.  Ken Hagin, "The Believers Authority")

During his conversion in 1933, Hagin reports he had a near death out of body experience: "I slipped back into my body as a man slips into his trousers in the morning, the same way in which I had gone out---through my mouth."
(Hank Hanegraaff, "Christianity in Crisis" page 334.  Ken Hagin, "I Believe in Visions," also "I went To Hell," and "the Name of Jesus."
Note: The ancient Egyptians believed that the human soul or spirit exits and enters through the mouth.

"I've drawn back from the prophet's ministry because I don't want to be classed with all those idiots and half wits."
(Hank Hanegraaff, "Christianity in Crisis" page 336.  Ken Hagin, "Special Report: Camp Meeting '83, Word Faith page 16, October 1983")

Hagin Actually boasts that he had not "Prayed one prayer in 45 years...without getting an answer.  I always got an answer--and the answer was always yes."
(Hank Hanegraaff, "Christianity in Crisis" page 95.  Ken Hagin, "The Name of Jesus," page 16, 1981)

Kenneth Hagin was one of the early popularizers of the myth that "Jesus is the first person ever to be born again."  Despite his occasional protests, this is exactly what he has taught.
(Hank Hanegraaff, "Christianity in Crisis" page 171.  Ken Hagin, "The Name of Jesus," page 29, 1981)

"Jesus plainly taught that sickness is of the devil, and not of God...Since Satan is the author of sickness, I ought to walk free from it...Divine health is my covenant right!...Everybody healed under the ministry of Jesus was oppressed of the devil...The devil is behind all sickness...There is no such thing as the separation of sickness and disease from Satan."
(Hank Hanegraaff, "Christianity in Crisis" page 258.  Ken Hagin, "Faith Food for Spring," page 72-73, 79)

"Counterfeit Revival Leaders like Kenneth Hagin and Jack Deere continue to extol the work that God started through the healing revivals of William Branham and his imitators."
(Hank Hanegraaff, "Counterfeit Revival," page 153.  Jack Deere)
Note: William Branham said that the Trinity doctrine is from the Devil!  For men to applaud a man that was a heretic that denied the Trinity is outrageous.

Let us look at just one of Ken Hagin's teachings to see if he indeed is a servant of the Most High God.  He teaches, "Well, he will be alright, 'if it's His will'  But it might not be His will, people have said.  And yet you don't find that kind of talk in the New Testament."  He tells us to, "never pray, if it's thy will," a bold and blaspemous statement indeed!  Will you follow man or God?  Do you truly love God with all of your heart?
Jesus taught us, "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.  Amen," Matthew 6:9-13 (See also: Psalm 143:10; James 4:15; 1 John 5:14).

"The subject of prosperity is currently so misunderstood in the church world that I feel I must comment on it.  The Lord Himself taught me about prosperity.  I never read about it in a book.  I got it directly from heaven.  It has blessed me and my family so much, I want to share it with you...I was holding a meeting down in East Texas when I went to the Lord about our financial problems.  I went on a partial fast, and each afternoon I spent several hours in prayer.  On the third day, I had all my statistics laid out in front of me once again, and I said, "Now, Lord, see how much better off I'd be if I'd stayed in my church?  That's what I wanted to do anyhow."  I'd gotten a hold of the Scripture that says, "If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land" (Isa. 1:19), and quoted it to Him again.  The still, small voice of the Lord spoke to my spirit, my innermost being: "First of all, that Scripture you keep quoting to Me says, 'If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.'  The reason you aren't eating the good of the land is because you don't qualify.  You are obedient, but you aren't willing.  So you don't qualify to eat the good of the land."  Don't tell me it takes a long time to get willing.  I know better. I made a little adjustment down on the inside of me, and I got willing in ten seconds!  I said, "Now I'm willing.  I know I am willing.  You know I am willing. And the devil knows I am willing.  Now I am ready.  I am ready to eat the good of the land, because You told me that being willing is all I lacked."   The next thing the Lord said to me was, "Your trouble is, you preach faith, but you don't practice faith."  "Yes," He said, "you practice faith when it comes to healing, and that's commendable.  But you use your faith for healing, salvation, and the baptism of the Holy Spirit.  That's as far as you ever go with your faith.  But faith is the same in every realm, in every sphere.  Faith works identically in every realm and in every sphere.  Faith for finances works just like faith for healing, the baptism in the Holy Spirit, or salvationFaith is the same in the financial realm as it is in any of the othersNow, if it were healing you needed for your own body, you would claim it by faith and go out and publicly announce you were healed.  You've done that.  Sometimes even while you were preaching, any symptoms you had would disappear.  Now, you see, you have to do the same thing when it comes to finances."  I saw I wasn't exercising faith in finances at all.  We hadn't known we could exercise our faith for finances.  The Lord instructed me that after I once claimed what I needed, that was to be the end of the matter.  I wasn't to pray or do anything else.  If I thought about the situation, I was simply to stay in faith and say, "Thank God for it.  It's working." I will never forget it.  The Lord said all this to me in the bedroom of the parsonage where I was praying.  If you receive a revelation from God, prove it out first before you start preaching or teaching it.  Don't proclaim it until you prove that it's in line with the Word and with experience.  I tested this revelation at my next meeting, claiming $150 a week.  I counted 45 people in the morning worship service.  At the end of three weeks, I was given $750 plus a new set of tires for the used car I had just bought! It took all the faith I had back in 1950 to believe for that $150After feeding my faith on the Word of God and exercising for the past 50 years, I can now believe God as easily for $1 million as I could then for $150Your faith can grow.  Start exercising it on the things you need, but don't start out claiming something ridiculous.  And remember, it is not God who is withholding your needs and wants."
(Ken Hagin, "How God Taught Me About Prosperity," Article C-Faith)

"In this article, we will deal with different aspects of prayer as it relates to healing.  The redemptive plan of God still belongs to us today.  Someone might say, "If healing belongs to us, why don't we have it?Did you ever stop to think about the fact that salvation belongs to the worst person you know, just as much as it does to you?  Well, why doesn't he have salvation if it belongs to him?  It's either because he hasn't heard about salvation, or he heard about it and rejected it.  We have been given the Word of God, and we can either accept it or reject it.  If we accept God's Word and walk in the light of it, the blessings and promises of God become ours.  If a person doesn't accept the Word of God, he cannot partake of all the benefits it has to offer...It's important to realize what hinders many from receiving their healing and other blessings of God is their lack of faith and understanding of the Word of God."
(Ken Hagin, "Healing Power for the Brethren," Article C-Faith)

"Sometimes in my meetings the glory cloud will come as I am about to minister to people in a healing line.  The first time that happened I was holding a meeting for Brother Gordon Lindsay in the 1960's.  I had laid hands on about half of the people in the healing line.  Then I saw the glory cloud rolling into the buildingI walked back to the pulpit because I knew in that instance if I stood in that cloud, I would fall under the power of the Holy Spirit along with the rest of the peopleThe cloud came floating over the heads of the congregation. Meanwhile, the people in the healing line all had their eyes closed and were worshipping God.  They weren't watching me.  I waited until the cloud was right above the people in the healing line, and then I waved my hand.  When I did that, every person in the healing line fell down like dominoes under the power of the Spirit."
(Ken Hagin, "The Glory of God," Article C-Faith)

"You need to get a revelation in your spirit that the Name of Jesus belongs to you as a Christian.  You have a right to use that Name.  When sickness or disease tries to attack you, you can demand, "In the Name of Jesus Christ, leave my body! That's how I've been able to live for nearly 60 years without having a headache.  I didn't say headache symptoms never tried to attack me.  I said I haven't had a headache in nearly 60 years because when a symptom came, I demanded that it leave in Jesus' Name, and it leftIf symptoms of sickness or disease try to attack your body, don't just accept them and go around talking about your troubles with othersInstead say, "In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, sickness and disease, leave my body! When you exercise your authority by faith in the Name of Jesus, sickness or disease must go!  Remember, you're not demanding anything of God.  You're demanding that demon forces stop their operations against you, because sickness and disease come from the devil, not from God.  You are exercising your scriptural authority over the devil in Jesus' Name.  Jesus told the disciples to pray that God's will would be done on earth as it is in Heaven (Matt. 6:10).  There isn't any sickness in Heaven and God doesn't want you to be sick here on earthWhen you take authority over sickness or disease in your body in the Name of Jesus, you're just taking your place as a child of God with certain rights and privileges in Christ...I used the Name of Jesus for years, commanding sickness or pain or whatever tried to come against me to leave. As I used that Name, the symptoms left my body.  But then I began to see that I could use Jesus' Name to break the power of the devil over my loved ones and claim their salvation."
(Ken Hagin, "The Name of Jesus and You," Article C-Faith)

"This means that you as a Christian are an absolute overcomer. It means that poverty, want, and need are things of the past."
(Ken Hagin, "Jesus Christ, Our Shepherd," Article C-Faith)

"The sinner does not need to think that God is mad at him or that God is against him.  The sin that sends a man to hell is not an act or deed, such as lying, stealing or cheating; it is rejecting the Lord Jesus Christ!"
(Ken Hagin, "Jesus Christ, Our Shepherd," Article C-Faith)

"You might ask, "Why is this?"  You see, God made the world and the fullness thereof.  Then He made man and gave man dominion over all the work of His hands (Gen. 1:28; Ps. 8:5,6).  Adam was the "god" of this world. However, when Adam disobeyed God, he committed high treason and sold out his dominion on the earth to Satan.  That's when Satan became the "god" of this world (2 Cor. 4:4).  God can't just move in on Satan's territory and take over.  If He did, Satan could accuse Him of being unjust.  However, God devised a plan of salvation and sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to consummate it."
(Ken Hagin, "Plead Your Case," Article C-Faith)

"We need to realize that God is present everywhere.  Because He is present everywhere, so is His power.  His power may not be in manifestation, but it is there.  Why doesn't God's power come into manifestation in every circumstance to heal every sick personIt doesn't for the simple reason that it takes someone exercising faith to release or activate the power or anointing. You see, the power of God is inactive, passive, or inert until faith is exercised. But once God's power is activated, it will break every yoke...The power of God won't do a thing in the world by itselfIt's inactive, inert, and passive until faith is mixed with it - until someone taps into it by believing and acting upon God's WordYou see, faith gives action to the anointing or the power of God.  If there is no faith to give action to the anointing, nothing will happen!
(Ken Hagin, "The Anointing Breaks the Yoke," Article C-Faith)

"I have found in my ministry that supernatural manifestations of healing usually are seen either among sinners or among denominational people who have not heard divine healing taught!  I have seldom, if ever, seen them work for Full Gospel people.  Why?  Because gifts of healings and supernatural manifestations are given primarily to advertise the Gospel and to gain the attention of those outside the Church.  The believer should be healed by releasing his faith in the Word of God."
(Ken Hagin, "When Healing Doesn't Come," Article C-Faith)

"Opening the door to the spirit of fear is one way we can give other spirits the opportunity to come in and wreak havoc in our lives.  For example, in the case of Job, we can see the danger of allowing fear to have dominion over us. Job lost his children, his property, and his health through Satan's attacks (Job 1:13-19).  How was Satan able to attack Job? Satan had to have some avenue, some inroad into Job's life.  The Bible says that Job was in fear.  After all these calamities came upon him, Job said, "For the thing which I GREATLY FEARED IS COME UPON ME, and THAT WHICH I WAS AFRAID OF is come unto me." (Job 3:25) People sometimes say, "Satan was able to attack Job because God gave Satan permission. No, God didn't permit Satan to attack Job in the sense of commissioning the devilJob gave Satan permission by opening the door to him through fearGod only allowed Satan to do what Job had already permitted through the open door of fear.  Fear opens the door to the enemy. Fear is not of God!"
(Ken Hagin, "Neither Give Place," Article C-Faith)

"You can have what you say.  The woman who touched Jesus' garment received exactly what she said...What you say is your faith speaking. You can have what you say (see Mark 11:23-24)."
(Ken Hagin, "You Can Have What You Say," Article C-Faith)

"I have authority over myself and my house.  If the devil ever comes knocking at my door with sickness, poverty, lack, or oppression, I tell him, "Don't come to my house.  You'll have to go peddle that junk somewhere else because I won't receive it!"...If you've already accepted sickness or disease (or anything else the devil tries to bring your way), then you've got a mess on your hands, and you'll have to do something about it.  But, thank God, something can be done in the Name of Jesus."
(Ken Hagin, "The Authority Of The Believer," Article C-Faith)

"When I tell people they don't have to pray to be healed, they look at me in amazement.  But it is not a matter trying to get God to heal you; it is a matter of you accepting the gift God has already provided...Someone may say, "It may be the will of God for me to be sick.  God may get more glory out of my being sick than if I were well."  What right, then, would God have to put your sickness on Jesus if He wanted you to keep bearing it?  There is no need for both of you to bear it.  Because Jesus bore it, you are freeHealing is a gift, like salvation, already paid for at Calvary.  All you need to do is accept it by faith. All you need to do is possess the promise that is yours.  As a child of God, you need to realize that healing belongs to you!"
(Ken Hagin, "Healing Belongs to You!," Article C-Faith)
